We’re Hiring: Customer Program Manager
Location: Willow Run, Ypsilanti Twp., MI
Reports To: Proving Ground Operations Manager
The American Center for Mobility (ACM) is a 500-acre advanced mobility proving ground and event destination located at the historic Willow Run site in Ypsilanti Twp., Michigan. ACM offers specialized test environments, configurable infrastructure, and flexible campus space to support vehicle testing and validation, product demonstrations, industry events, and collaborative mobility initiatives focused on safe, sustainable, and secure technologies.
Position: Customer Program Manager
The Customer Program Manager is responsible for the successful post‑sale execution of customer‑funded commercial testing programs at the ACM Proving Ground. This role owns end‑to‑end delivery following contract execution, ensuring programs are completed safely, on schedule, to contractual requirements, and with a high degree of customer satisfaction.
The position is intentionally designed to free Sales and Account Managers from day‑to‑day program execution while also preventing the Proving Ground Manager from being drawn into routine customer program management.
Responsibilities
- Participate in pre-contract development activities with sales team and customers
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers following contract execution through program closeout
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of customer testing programs at the Proving Ground
- Translate customer requirements and contractual scope into executable program plans, schedules, and milestones
- Coordinate internal ACM resources including track operations, facilities, engineering, safety, and external vendors
- Manage program schedules, deliverables, risks, dependencies, scope creep and change requests in accordance with contract terms
- Ensure all testing activities are conducted in accordance with ACM safety policies and operational procedures
- Proactively identify issues and risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Communicate program status to customers and internal stakeholders
- Escalate conflicts and delivery risks with recommended actions
- Support contract closeout and capture lessons learned
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- 5+ years of customer‑facing program or project management experience
- Experience in automotive, mobility, aerospace, defense, or technical services preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage customer expectations and contractual commitments
- Strong communication skills with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Working understanding of vehicle testing or proving ground operations
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent programs
- Diplomatic skills in managing customer expectations (e.g. scope creep)
