ACM continues growth and development as companies seek unique space to showcase connected and autonomous vehicle technologies

Ypsilanti, Mich., Feb. 27, 2020 – The American Center for Mobility (ACM) today announced the ground breaking of a new event center at its Willow Run site with a targeted goal of August 2020 for completion. The center will accommodate up to 500 people and several vehicles inside the 8,000 square-foot space. The event center will be uniquely co-located within the ACM’s smart city test center, providing space for automotive, mobility and technology companies to integrate their meetings and conferences with the ability to demonstrate and showcase vehicle and mobility solutions in safe and configurable environments.

“With an increase in demand from the mobility industry to hold meetings and technology demonstration events at ACM, we knew it was time to break ground and encourage the kind of economic development that we anticipated in the conceptual phases of planning the ACM,” says Mark Chaput, Interim CEO at the American Center for Mobility. “The ACM event center will continue to generate incremental jobs as the automotive industry continues to ramp up their research and testing efforts of new mobility technologies. This is great news for the local area, as more activity at the ACM will also lead to an increase in local support services such as catering, promotions, hotel accommodations and transportation.”

The ACM event center will accommodate any professional event with full AV capabilities, configurable spaces and a catering prep kitchen. Targeted toward the automotive and mobility industry, the facility can host a variety of events including:

  • Product exhibit & showcase
  • Ride & drive experiences
  • Product launch training & demonstrations
  • Education, training and professional development seminars
  • Corporate events & symposiums
  • Conferences including space for workshops and breakout sessions
  • STEM activities and competitions
